2006. a. möödub 90 aastat korvpallimängu algusest Eestis.
Korvpall pääses olümpiamängudele esmakordselt 1936. a. Berliinis ja eestlastele langes au see turniir avada, nad jäid lõpuks jagama üheksandat kohta. Esimesed eestlastest maailmameistrid olid Maret-Mai Otsa ja Ene Kitsing, kahekordseks tšempioniks krooniti Priit Tompson, esimeseks olümpiavõitjaks Tiit Sokk, aga hõbemedalivõitjaid kogunes terve rida – Lõssov, Kullam, Kruus, Lipso (viimane on ainus, kel kaks olümpiamedalit kodus).
Korvpallis on maailmameistriks kullatud kuus eestlast, Euroopa meistriteks koguni 13 ja kõigist neist saab selles raamatus lugeda. Mõistagi ka ainsast NBA-s mänginud Martin Müürsepast ja teistest ässadest viimase poole sajandi jooksul.
