Tuntud ja armastatud pallaslase ning Ants Laikmaa õpilase imetlusväärselt meisterlik teos.
Kunstihariduse omandas 1920. aastatel Ants Laikmaa ateljeekoolis ja 1934–1938 Kõrgemas Kunstikoolis Pallas. Seejärel kolis ta Tallinna, kus asutas oma stuudio.[2] 1939. aastal sõitis ta õpinguid jätkama Pariisi, kuid sõja puhkemisel oli sunnitud tagasi pöörduma.
