Suur osa 80 leheküljele koondatud materjalist käsitleb kooli tekke– ja arengulugu: alates ajast, mil kooli 1835. aastal esimest korda mainiti, kui toonane Mäo vallavalitsus 1919. aastal Sargvere mõisa rentis ja ümberkaudseid külakoole mõisasse koondama hakkas.Lisaks leiab raamatust Sargvere kooli lõpetanute ja endiste koolijuhtide mälestusi, vilistlaste nimekirju alates 1920. aastast kuni 2005. aasta kevadeni, samuti õpetajate ja koolijuhtide nimesid. Viimane osa trükisest on õpilaste omalooming.
