25 aastat tagasi, 1986. aasta 26. aprillil kell 1.23 plahvatas Tšernobõli tuumaelektrijaama 4. energiaploki reaktor, millest aurustus ja heideti atmosfääri 50 tonni tuumakütust. Radioaktiivse pilvena kandus see üle Valgevene, Venemaa, Poola, Skandinaavia ja Baltimaade.
Eesti jäi küll saastepilvest märkimisväärselt puutumata, kuid õnnetus tabas meie kodusid teisel moel: 1986.–1989. saadeti Eestist Tšernobõli katastroofipiirkonda ligemale 5000 meest.
Mälestusteraamatus meenutavad kordusõppuste sildi all katastroofi tagajärgi likvideerima saadetud seda aega oma elus, mille järel polnud enam miski endine.
