Volume 2, the sophomore collaborative release with Sisterjam is a three track compilation including original unreleased material by Brooklyn-based producers Black Meteoric Star (DFA), Lorna Dune (Lo Bit Landscapes, New Amsterdam Records), and J Slusher (Lost Soul). At 18 minutes-long, the compilation's sweeping opener "Unearthed Arcana" was licensed on the spot when Gavin Russom, the producer behind Black Meteoric Star, premiered the track at his monthly BNCC residency with Detroit house veteran Lauren Flax. Russom created Black Meteoric Star in 2006 to explore the intersection of first wave acid house sounds with experimental techno, wave, EBM, Italo Disco and both punk and psychedelic rock aesthetics. Russom's Black Meteoric Star tracks are recorded live to cassette tape using a specific array of machines that includes Russom's own analog circuit designs. No multi tracking, editing or overdubbing is used in the process. Harsh and deep, his DFA release "Death Tunnel/World Eater" undoubtedly foreshadowed the current alternative techno hype. B1 titled "Reflux" features Lorna Dune, who daylights as an experimental pianist having performed with Steve Reich and Phillip Glass amongst others. Her electronic work is celestial and high definition, transforming clubs and bedrooms into utopian dream spas. J. Slusher closes the B-Side with the aggressive techno number "Night Train," which begins as cold as winter concrete but soon reveals sonic depth and a glimpse of Slusher's complex sound.
