The Long and Winding Road is an excellent documentary about the Beatles featuring in-depth interviews with John’s step-sister and others who knew the Beatles intimately. My only criticism is that sometimes Paul is speaking but his comments are attributed to John.

The film clearly depicts the negative influence Yoko Ono had on John and the other members of the band. One commentator states, “Yoko used John as a vessel to promote herself.” She could have respectfully chosen to separate herself from John’s work as the other Beatles women did. Instead she deliberately integrates herself into the Beatles fold attempting to become one of the Beatles.

More than anything, Yoko wanted John’s fame. She used drugs, hypnosis, primal scream therapy and many other tools to brainwash and manipulate John and keep him under her complete control. During the time John wanted to divorce her Yoko even dictated who he could sleep with (ie May Pang). When she saw how John was thriving under May’s influence, Yoko lied and deceived John to get him to return to her.
