Moodustati 15. oktoobril 1935 Königsbergis V armeekorpuse jaoks. Üksus hävitati Krimmis 1944. aasta mais. Jäänused viidi seejärel massiliselt Sileesias asuvasse Waffen-SS-i ja nimetati ümber XI SS-soomuskorpuse SS-sidepataljoniks 111.
