. Taim on põõsasja kasvuga. Lehed on veinipunased , kõrged, kuni 50-120 cm pikad .Õisikud sarikakujulised, õied suured, laialt avatud, lillakas-sinised. Õitseb juuni keskelt alates umbes 30 päeva. Eelistab päikeselist, poolvarjulist kasvukohta ning parasniisket aiamulda kuid saab hakkama ka kehvemates oludes.
