Neli last, Peter, Susan, Edmund ja Lucy viiakse Teise Maailmasõja ajal Londonist nõdrameelse professori igavasse maamajja. Elu muutub aga päevapealt, kui Lucy avastab riidekapi, läbi mille viib tee võlumaailma nimega Narnia. Seda Maailma, kus kõik loomad oskavad rääkida, on valitsemas tark ning helde lõvi Aslan. Kuid sealset eluolu lähemalt uurides saavad lapsed aru, et Narnias ei ole kõik just parimas korras. Nimelt on kuri valge võlur Jadis hoidmas Narniat igaveses talves ning igaühe, kes tema käsku ei täida, muudab ta kiviks.
