"Jõululugu" on tõeline fantaasia tulevärk, mille nõiub ekraanile Oscari-võitjast lavastaja, oma julgete uuenduste poolest tuntud Robert Zemeckis. Film toob vaatajani Charles Dickensi klassikalise loo, kasutades selleks tehnika viimast sõna 3D-tehnoloogia vallas. Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) alustab jõuluaega nii nagu igal aastal, suhtudes pühadesse hapu halvustamisega, mille osaks saavad ka tema ustav abiline (Gary Oldman) ja hooletu sugulane (Colin Firth). Aga kui möödunud, praeguste ja tulevaste jõulude vaimud sunnivad vana Scrooge'i tõele näkku vaatama, peab ta praotama oma kivistunud südant, et teha heaks aastatepikkused õelused enne, kui on liiga hilja.
