New York. 23. sajandi algus. Mööda linna hulgub siniste juustega naine Jill Bioskop (Linda Hardy), kes nutab siniseid pisaraid.
Ta ei tea veel, et teda otsides on kotka peaga jumal Horus läbinud pool universumit, riskides seda tehes kõigega. Horusel on aega 7 päeva, kuid kõigepealt peab ta omandama inimese kuju. Selleks saab Alcide Nikopol (Thomas Kretschmann), kes 30 aastat varem oma teadmiste eest vangistati. Samal ajal hõljub Manhattani kohal jumalate püramiid, 1. tasemel liigub ringi maaväline sarimõrvar ning pilvelõhkujate tippudes peavad tulnukad oma vallutusplaane.
"Surematu" on fantaasiarikas ulmepõnevik, mille fantastilistest taustadest enamus on loodud arvuti abil. Lavastas endine koomiksikunstnik Enki Bilal ("Tykho Moon"), kes on ise ka filmi stsenaristiks.
