Eduard Pütsep on kuulsusrikkalt alanud Eesti maadlusajaloo esimene olümpiavõitja. Eesti aportlastest esimene, kes sinimustvalge lipu all võitis medali amatöörspordi MM-võistlustelt. Erilist jagub temas muudki. Kui eesti maadlejad on löönud läbi raskemates kehakaaludes, siis Pütsepast sai omamoodi müüdimurdja – tõestades, et eestlane suudab maailma võita ka kõige kergemate meeste konkurentsis. Seda ju oli kärbeskaal 1924. a. Pariisi olümpiamängudel.
