TUTVUSTUS
Elnara Taidre doktoritöö käsitleb omamütoloogilise tervikkunstiteose teisenemist 20. sajandi visuaalkunstis. Omamütoloogia all mõistetakse siin müüdiloomet üksikautori kunstipraktikates, mille tulemusena luuakse terviklik kunstilis-filosoofiline süsteem. Täpsustamaks töö fookust, on selle keskmesse asetatud omamütoloogia ulatuslikumad esinemisjuhtumid, mis võetakse kokku tervikkunstiteose kontseptsiooni abil. Omamütoloogilist tervikkunstiteost vaadeldakse muutuvana ajas ja laiemas ühiskondlikus kontekstis, oluliseks faktoriks on seejuures modernistliku ja postmodernistliku kultuuriparadigma vahetus 20. sajandil teisel poolel. Kõnealuseid muutusi ning kaasnevaid eri tendentse omamütoloogilise tervikkunstiteose toimimisviisis ja eesmärkides püütakse üldistada kolmikvalemi mudel-metafoor-mäng abil. Seda panevad proovile Kazimir Malevitši, Tõnis Vindi, Joseph Beuysi, Matthew Barney ja Kiwa kunstipraktikaid käsitlevad juhtumianalüüsid.
Elnara Taidre’s doctoral dissertation “Model, metaphor, play: The Total Mythological Work of Art in the Context of Paradigm Shift in the 20th Century” examines how the total mythological work of art changed in the visual art of the 20th century. In the context of the current research, artistic mythology is defined as myth-making in the art practices of individual authors, with the outcome being a consistent artistic-philosophical system. To refine the focus of this dissertation, more extensive examples of artistic mythology are placed at the forefront and summarised using the concept of the total mythological work of art. A total mythological artwork is seen as changing both over time and in the broader social context. A key factor in this regard is the cultural paradigm shift from modern to postmodern thinking in the latter half of the 20th century. The dissertation tries to generalise these changes using the triple “model-metaphor-play” formula to characterise various tendencies in the mechanisms of functioning and objectives of a total work of artistic mythology. These issues are outlined through the case studies which focus on art practices of Kazimir Malevich, Tõnis Vint, Joseph Beuys, Matthew Barney and Kiwa.
