TUTVUSTUS
Uus köide mälestusi Helmi Mäelolt viib meid iseseisvusaja aatelise tegevuse kihavasse ellu. Palju tähelepanu saavutanud lapse- ja koolipõlve kujutava mälestusteose «Talutütar» järele on see nagu uus aste eesti ühiskonna üldkujutuses. Siin esitatakse seda sugupõlve, kes oma parimail eluaastail vaba kodumaa ülesehitustöösse andus ning keda autor ühtlasi peab eesti rahva jätkuvuse ahelas selle kõige õnnelikumaks osaks. Teose portreedegalerii on lai ning kuna mälestusteose sündmuspaigaks on peamiselt Tartu, siis saab see paljumeenutatud linn veel otsekui ühe uue omapärase valgustuse.
