16.-17. aprillil 2008 toimus Väike-Maarja rahvamajas F. J. Wiedemanni keeleauhinna väljaandmise 20. aastapäevale pühendatud rahvusvaheline konverents "Emakeelne Eesti, emakeelne Euroopa".
2008. aasta keeleauhinna laureaadi Mati Erelti ja Eesti juhtivate keeleteadlaste kõrval esinesid ettekandjad Lätist, Saksamaalt, Rootsist, Soomest, Ungarist ja Venemaalt.
