Nimeka režissööri, lavastaja ja näitekirjaniku Ingmar Bergmani (1918–2007) poolautobiograafilises teoses "Fanny ja Alexander" avaneb laste pilgu läbi Ekdahlide teatridünastia igapäevaelu ja murdeliste sündmuste jada, mida saadab ja peegeldab Shakespeare'i "Hamleti" lavastamine pereisa juhitavas teatris.
Enda sõnutsi on Bergman maalinud teoses oma lapsepõlvemaailma, püüdes tabada noorusaja paikade, inimeste ja ootamatuste lumma, mille juurde ta mälestustes meelsasti tagasi pöördus. Samanimeline linateos, mille Bergman ise lavastas ja mida kriitikud on nimetanud tema hüvastijätuks filmikunstiga, jõudis kinodesse 1982. aastal ning pälvis võõrkeelse filmi Oscari.
