Ameerika kirjanik Theodore Dreiser (1871-1945) annab oma romaanis "Finantsist" (1912) värvika pildi Ameerika 19. sajandi teise poole ärimaailma telgitagustest, kirjeldades andeka pankuri ja maakleri Frank Cowperwoodi tõusu, langust ja uut tõusu, mille põhiliseks on selle võimeka finantsisti ja ühe tema lepitamatu vaenlase kauni tütre suur armastus. Romaan "Finantsist" (1912) kuulub Theodore Dreiseri monumentaalsesse "Ihade triloogiasse", mille järgnevad osad on "Titaan" (1914) ja postuumselt ilmunud "Stoik" (1947).
