See selts ühendas teaduse ja kõrgharidusega tegelevaid naisi (Tartu Ülikool, Eesti NSV Teaduste Akadeemia).
Märgil on stiliseeritud tõrviku kujutis (teadmiste ja valgustatuse sümbol) ja rooma number III (konverents või kongress).
Nõukogude Eestis oli tavaks välja anda mälestusmärke kindlate foorumite jaoks. Märk "ENSV III Õpetatud Naiste Selts" (või sarnane) anti delegaatidele.
ОБРАЗОВАНИЕ и НАУКА III Эстонское общество образованных женщин
Это общество объединяло женщин, занятых в науке и высшем образовании (Тартуский университет, Академия наук ЭССР).
На значке - стилизованное изображение факела (символ знаний и просвещения) и римская цифра III (конференция или съезд).
В советской Эстонии было принято выпускать памятные знаки к конкретным форумам. Значок «ENSV III Õpetatud Naiste Selts» (или аналогичный) вручался делегатам.
