Tõsi, selle nime all teavad teda ainult vähesed sõbrad, kuid ka nemad kutsuvad teda hoopis teise nimega - Krants. Jah, krants kui koerakrants, krants kui krants poiss, võrukael, aga ka krants kui pärg rõõmsa elu ning selle surmkindla lõpetuse, matuste sümbol. Eestis tunneksid Endel Pae nime ära kirjandusteadlased Karl Muru ja Oskar Kruus, kes on ta sisse võtnud luuleantoloogiasse «Sõnarine» ja «Eesti kirjarahva leksikoni» Eduard Krantsi nime all.
Küllap mäletavad Endel Paed ka veel mõned inimesed Keila vallas Ohtu külas, kus ta sündis talupidaja pojana 24. VII 1926.
