TUTVUSTUS

Koguteos tutvustab sõnas ja pildis eesti muinasvägilase nimeliste spordiorganisatsioonide tekkimist ja tegevust saja aasta jooksul. Raamatu esimene osa hõlmab ajavahemikku 1900-1944. Sellesse mahub provisoorne tagasivaade spordihuvi tärkamisele Eestimaal ja eestistuvas kubermangukeskuses Tallinnas. Kalevi nime esmakuulutajad olid raskejõustiklased Peterburis, veelgi edukamalt tegid seda enne Esimest maailmasõda kergejõustiklased.
Vabatahtlikest koosnevast Kalevlaste Malevast, kes tõttas appi Tallinna lähistele taandunud Eesti polkudele, sai sangarluse eeskuju meie rahvale omariikluse taganud Vabadussõjas.
