Sinised õied läbimõõduga 2,5 cm, kõrgust 60-70 cm.
Kasvukohaks on parim viljakas ja vett läbilaskev pinnas täispäikeses või poolvarjus. Korralikult juurdunud taim talub hästi ka põuda. Vanade õite eemaldamine pikendab õitsemist veelgi ja hoiab ära soovimatu seemnekülvi.
Vähenõudlik taim, lihtne kasvatada.
Kuna kalimeris on vastupidav, vähenõudlik ning väga pika aja jooksul rikkalikult õieilu pakkuv püsilill, sobib ta eriti hästi just maakodu aeda.
