"Kolme katku vahel" on Jaan Krossi romaan, mis kujutab XVI sajandil tegutsenud Liivimaa kroonika autori, Tallinna eestlasest pastori Balthasar Russowi elukäiku ja teda ümbritsenud keskaegset linnamiljööd. Teost läbib teema, milliseid kompromisse tuleb teha selleks, et võõra võimu all oma põhimõtetest ja moraalist mitte loobuda.

Romaani peaprobleemiks on Russowi asend kahe sotsiaalse, kultuurilise ja rahvusliku maailma – saksa ülikute ja eestlastest alamrahva – vahel. Ta võitleb end olusid trotsides ülemklassi, kuid jääb hingeliselt seotuks maarahvaga. Seetõttu tuleb tal pidevalt laveerida ja kompromisse teha.
