Need mälestused lõpevad Sulev Vahtre elukäigu selles punktis, kus tema õpiaastad lõppesid ja tööaastad algasid. Võib ka öelda: kus tema elutöö algas. Tasub üksiti silmas pidada, et kui nende mälestuste peategelasena – lapsena, koolipoisina ja üliõpilasena – oli ta pigem saaja, õppija, kogeja, nagu see on ka loomulik, siis hiljem abikaasa, isa ja õppejõuna oli ta suuresti andjaks pooleks. Ent kuna anda saab inimene vaid seda, mis tal on, võiksid Sulev Vahtrega kokku puutunud inimesed neid mälestusi lugedes kogeda teatavat äratundmisrõõmu – aa, seal on siis tema kallis Kivijärve ja Laiuse, seal itaalia raamatupidamine, seal aga kangastub Tasuja ähmane vari.
