Konstantin Konikut teavad tänapäeva Eesti Vabariigis vähesed – vahest mõni arst ning ajaloohuviline. Praegused gümnaasiumi ajalooõpikud mainivad tema nime kõigest korra.
Konik oli kuulus kirurg ning teenekas Tartu Ülikooli arstiteaduskonna dekaan. Ta kuulus Konstantin Pätsi ja Jüri Vilmsi kõrval kolmanda liikmena Eestimaa Päästmise Komiteesse. Nemad kuulutasid 1918. a. veebruaris välja Eesti Vabariigi ja panid nii aluse peagi saja-aastaseks saavale omariiklusele.
