Romaani täismahus trükk ilmus alles 1960. aastal, 30 aastat pärast autori surma. Romaan räägib armastusloost kõrgklassi kuuluva daami ja aedniku vahel. Armastusstseenid on kujutatud varjamatult ja valehäbita. Tegemist on selle romaani esmakordse tõlkega eesti keelde.
