Esiküljel on kujutatud kahte atleeti maadlusmatši hetkel.
Medal on pühendatud P. G. Jefremovi mälestusmemoriaalile. Pjotr Georgijevitš Jefremov oli Narvas ja Eestis tuntud maadleja ning treener, kes andis suure panuse selle spordiala arengusse.
Jefremovi memoriaal oli nõukogude ajal suuri ja regulaarne spordisündmus. Nendele võistlustele sõitis kokku sadu noori sportlasi kümnetest võistkondadest üle kogu NSVL-i.

Медаль посвящена мемориалу памяти П. Г. Ефремова.
Пётр Георгиевич Ефремов был известным в Нарве и Эстонии борцом и тренером, внесшим большой вклад в развитие этого вида спорта.
Мемориал Ефремова являлся крупным и регулярным спортивным событием в советское время На эти соревнования съезжались сотни юных спортсменов из десятков команд со всего СССР.
