Neiu laipki jääb leidmata. Nüüd on Bosch lahendamata juhtumite osakonnas, kus ikka hoiab Gesto toimikut oma laual. Järsku helistab talle ringkonna prokurör: võigas mõrvar ihkab pääseda surmanuhtlusest, tunnistades üles üheksa tapmist, sealhulgas Marie Gesto surmamise.
