Abraham H. Maslow (1908-1970) on üks humanistliku psühholoogia teerajajatest ja eelmise sajandi loominguliseimaid psühholooge. Maslowi mõtteviis oli oma aja kohta täiesti uudne – kui enamik psühholooge oli keskendunud pigem ebanormaalse ja haiglasliku uurimisele, siis Maslow tahtis hoopis teada, mis on vaimse tervise põhjuseks. Tema nimega on lahutamatult seotud sellised mõisted nagu vajaduste hierarhia, eneseteostus ja tippkogemused, mis on leidnud laialdast kasutust mitte ainult psühholoogias, vaid avaldanud suurt mõju ka tänapäeva hariduse, kultuuri, juhtimisteaduse, sotsioloogia ja tervishoiu arengule.
