Õppis 1922–1934 Pallases maalimist, täiendas end maalierialal 1944–1946 Tartu Riiklikus Kunstiinstituudis, kus omandas ka joonistusõpetaja kutse. 1950. aastail pühendus akvarellile, viljeles natüürmorti ning lille- ja maastikumaali. Kunstniku pehmete läbipaistvate üleminekutega akvarellikäsitlus muutus 1970. aastail tehniliselt mitmekesisemaks, varasemate teoste mahe lüüriline laad teisenes mediteerivaks ja omandas irreaalseid varjundeid.
