Mattiase unistuseks on peale keskkooli lõpetamist minna Berliini fotograafiat õppima. Tema plaanid seab ohtu armumine hulljulgesse bipolaarsesse Hannasse, kes tõmbab Matthiase kaasa sündmustekeerisesse, mis viib poisi seadusega pahuksisse. Päästes Hannat tema enese küüsist, paneb Mattias toime kuriteo, mis ähvardab ta aastateks trellide taha viia. Karistusest pääsemiseks on ainult üks viis - lasta end süüdimatuks tunnistada. Selleks tuleb aga Mattiasel teeselda ainsat psüühikaäiret, mida ta tunneb - biopolaarsust.
