1920. aastal sündinud Ray Bradbury on vaieldamatult kahekümnenda sajandi ulmekirjanduse suurkuju. Tema esimene jutukogu ilmus 1947. aastal ning sellest ajast peale on ta avaldanud nii omavahel seotud lühijutte, jutukogusid, lühiromaane kui ka õudusjutte. Tema juttudes on peaaegu alati tunda kaotust ja nostalgiat ning ta tunneb inimestele kaasa isegi nende kõige arutumate tegude puhul. Kuigi paljudes Bradbury juttudes toimub tegevus Maast kaugel, on tema peamised kangelased siiski inimesed ning tehnoloogia kirjeldamine ei hakka kunagi domineerima. Ja nagu hea kirjandus ikka, on ka Bradbury loomingu paremik ajatu ja aegumatu.
