TUTVUSTUS
Poola esseistliku reisikirjanduse üks tähtteoseid, nimeka kirjaniku ja ajakirjaniku Ryszard Kapuściński (1932—2007) jutustus reporteriaastatest Aasias, Aafrikas ja Lähis-Idas, kus tema igapäevaseks kaaslaseks sai Herodotose kahe ja poole tuhande aasta tagune «Historia». Kapuściński nimetab Herodotose teost esimeseks suureks maailmakirjandusse kuuluvaks reportaažiks. Kahe ränduri ja «maailmakirjeldaja» vahele sugeneb omalaadne õpilase ja õpetaja suhe, hingesugulus ning sõprus. Autori reisid kulgesid tänu Herodotosele paralleelselt ajas ja ruumis, minevik oli kohal olevikus, moodustades ajaloo katkematu voo.
