Riigikantselei tähistab sel aastal koos Eesti Vabariigiga oma 100. aastapäeva. 11. novembril 1918. aastal alustas tööd Eesti Ajutine Valitsus koos oma kantseleiga. Sellest kantseleist kasvaski välja Riigikantselei, mille ülesanne on olnud algusest peale toetada Vabariigi Valitsust ja selle juhti – peaministrit või riigivanemat – riigi valitsemisel ning tagada riigijuhtimise järjepidevus. Tänaseks päevaks on kunagisest valitsuse kantseleist saanud valitsust ja peaministrit poliitika kujundamisel ning selle elluviimisel toetav valitsuskeskus.
