Filoloogiadoktor Aarne Vinkli elu- ja kultuurilooline päeva- ja mälestusteraamat koondab erinevatel aegadel kirjutatud memuaar- ja sünkroonkirjutisi. Põhiosas on tegemist 1998. aasta juulikuus Muhus alustatud mälestustega, (Mälestused II, III), mis on järjeks 1944. aastal Võrumaal Saksa sõjaväes kirja pandud lapsepõlvemeenutustele (Haualähedasi mälestusi). Autor on ilukirjanduslike katsetuste, oma mõtete ja tähelepanekute ülesmärkimisega alustanud juba õige varakult, see ulatub tagasi algkooliaega. Keeleliselt on varasemaid tekste kohendatud.
