Kirjanik annab lugejale võimaluse mõista Bosnia väga keerukaid iseärasusí. See slaavi maa sattus kauaks ajaks türgi ikke alla ja «türgistus» niivõrd, et mõnedest bosnialastest said isegi Türgi riigi juhtivad tegelased. See türgi- ja slaavipärasuse segunemine olustikus, tavades ja inimeste mõttemaailmas lisab teosele omapärast hõngu.
