Romaanis "Sündmusteta suvi" jutustab Hindrey ühest suvest Pühajärve kaldatalus. Muheda rahvamehe Taari prototüübiks on olnud ajakirjanik ja kirjanduskriitik Anton Jürgenstein, ka kohalik seltsitegelane ja luuletaja Gustav Wulff on tõsieluline isik, teiste tegelaste puhul pole äratuntavat prototüüpi kasutatud. Suvi päris sündmusteta pole, kuid nendega on vabalt ümber käidud. Kui muud sündmused näivad pärinevat 1930ndaist aastaist, siis Vabadussõja ausamba avamine Otepääl toimus 1928. aastal, kuid romaanis on seegi nihutatud kujutatud suvesse.
