Nimetatud ühing oli asutatud kohalike kuulsuste ja teadlaste poolt 1904. aastal Prantsuse Vahemere kuurortlinna Nizzas eesmärgiga kaitsta kohalikke keeli ja traditsioone, säilitada kunstirikust ja ajaloouurimist. Igal aastal selts korraldab kohalike keele ja laulu õppetunde, konverentsid, ekskursioonid ja kord kvartalis annab välja ka oma ajakirja. Samuti on toimetanud mitu ajaloolist ja kunstiraamatu. Muide, selle seltsi liikmeks saavad ainult need, kes on sündinud Nizza maakonnas ja siin elasid nende kolm eelnevad põlvkonda!
