TUTVUSTUS
Need mitmeist matkamärkmikest kogutud ja raamatuks kujundatud jutukesed ning tušijoonistused kirjeldavad lähema mineviku üksikuid sündmusi ja püüavad näidata seda vaimset tagapõhja, millel eestlastest kunstinovaatorid elasid ja tegutsesid. Selle raamatu vahelduv sisu ongi nagu mõni tasane saatemuusika minu tähtsamate õlimaalide valmimise protsessile. Osa minu varajasemaid teoseid on jäänud teisele poole okastraati ja paljud hilisemad maalid on rännanud oma uute omanike kaudu kaugemaile kontinentidele. Neid kõiki oleks raske kokku koguda mõneks retrospektiivseks ülevaatenäituseks. Sellepärast tahab käesolev raamat anda peale muu ka lühemaid kirjeldusi minu tähtsamate teoste saamisloost.
