Theodor W. Adorno (1903–1969), üks XX sajandi silmapaistvamaid filosoofe, on saanud tuntuks eeskätt ühiskonnakriitiliste töödega. Kuid Adorno arusaam filosoofiast on lahutamatult seotud tema esteetikateooriaga, eriti kirjanduskäsitusega. Teatud mõttes kirjutas Adorno filosoofina kontseptuaalselt lahti neid esteetilisi kogemusi, mida ta oli saanud kirjandusest ja ka muusikast.
