Helilooja ja muusikapedagoogi professor Riho Pätsi (1899-1977) käesolev lastelauluvalimik on mõeldud kasutamiseks kodus, lasteringides, lasteaias ja koolis.
Valimik sisaldab helilooja erinevatel loomeperioodidel ja erinevaks otstarbeks loodud laule, millest on tingitud ka selle üpris kirju ja raskusastmelt ebaühtlane üldpilt, eriti klaverisaadete osas.
Kõikidel lauludel on algupärane klaveri- ja lastepillide korduvmotiiviline saade. Viimased loovad soodsa võimaluse laululise tegevuse mitmekesistamiseks, laste aktiviseerimiseks ja nende muusikaliste võimete arendamiseks. Klaverisaated on küll kohati nõudlikud, kuid see-eest peaksid nad laste fantaasiat ja kujutlusvõimet rikastama ning juhtima tähelepanu muusikalistele väljendusvahenditele.
