Oli kord võlutud mets, kuhu saabusid pöialpoisid, hiiglased...
Pöialpoisid saevad maha vana puu, et sellest endale esivanemate piroogi valmistada. Paraku elavad puutüve õõnsuses kolm tonti Äädikas, Ingver ja Pipar. Kuna tontide puu on maha saetud, ei ole neil enam elukohta ja nad soovivad endale uut kodu pöialpoiste juures. Tondid on aga kõvad vembumehed ja teevad igasuguseid trikke, mis ei meeldi sugugi pöialpoistele.
