Restaureerimistööd Ida-Euroopa suurimas, 15. sajandil rajatud Jumalaema kaitsmise (Pokrovski) tornis lõppesid detsembris 2010. Pihkvat 9 kilomeetri pikkuselt ümbritsenud, 40 värava ja torniga kindlusemüüris asuval viiekorruselisel 90-meetrise ümbermõõduga tornil oli eriline roll Vene-Poola sõjas. Peale kuuekuulist Pihkva piiramist alistasid vene väed 1581. aastal Poola kuninga Stefan Batory väed. 17. sajandi lõpuveerandil torn põles. Eelmise sajandi 60ndatel restaureeritud torn hävis taas tulekahjus 1995. Nüüd on torn täielikult taastatud, sellesse on rajatud muuseum.
