Follow the tips to make a good purchase:

Review all the information available on a particular item
Do you accept these payment methods and terms of delivery? Does item description suit to your needs? 

Run a background check on the seller
By clicking on the seller's login you can read the comments of other buyers about given seller: "Feedback to the seller".

Ask the seller questions
If the information about the goods is insufficient, you may always ask the seller a question by clicking on the link below the auction description "Ask the seller". Read through not only action descreption, but section "Questions for seller" also.

Determine the maximum price you are willing to pay for particular item
Use previously collected information (take into account how much do you really want that item, how hard it was for you to find another similar item, how urgently you need that item, etc.) and decide what price you are willing to pay.

Consider paying BuyNow price
Do the goods you are willing to buy indicate BuyNow price? If yes, think carefully whether you are ready to pay BuyNow price to guarantee acquisition of that item as soon as possible.

Think each bid through!
Do not place bids for similar items, if you only want one item. Do not bid at random and do not use bidding to see how high the price could raise - you cannot delete the bids you make!
